I recently started the paleo diet since it promises renewed health & vitality...eat lots of protein, veggies, and some fruit, stay away from the white food (processed flour, cane sugar, and dairy) and grains.
Paleo has much more variety than the Atkin's diet I tried years ago - my stomach just couldn't take all that meat and limited veggies/fruit. And all that fake sugar - ugh! Since I always try and do as much research as possible, I did find some excellent recipes in books like The Gourmet Prescription: High Flavor Recipes for Lower Carbohydrate Diets , by Deborah Friedson, MD, which I've not used in a long enough time (the Texas Brisket and all its tangy Worcestershire sauce goodness is amazing), so back to it, albeit in a recipe-altering way, since many were way too high fat for my stomach's happiness.
I also went gluten-free for a year: although I found some new great foods and ingredients (tapioca flour rolls are to-die-for good), it was too expensive to keep up with. Now it's onto Paleo...and, since I always like to find the best resources for things, I found a great website = paleOMG.com (the author is hilarious and posts amazing recipes to boot: lemon poppyseed waffles? I think I can live with that. The cauliflower "rice" is great, and I'm hopefully having the ropa vieja for supper, although I'm making it in a pressure cooker instead of a slow cooker).
Book I've ordered and waiting for with bated breath:  "The Paleo Answer,: 7 Days to Lose Weight, Feel Great, Stay Young", by Loren Cordain, ISBN 978-1118016084

All set to learn ASP

One part of a compound question in my interview yesterday was, "What is your experience with asp?"
It can be very nerve-racking to be asked about a product or language you've never used...just so it doesn't happen again (at least with respect to asp), I sought out self-directed learning sites for gaining this knowledge.
Hopefully, by the time I've gone through some of the 100 asp tutorial examples at W3Schools (where I successfully taught myself HTML & CSS), I can answer that I have a least a strong foundation of creating active server pages (hey, at least today I know what the acronym stands for...lol) -- and maybe an even stronger "theoretical" foundation for what cool things I could get a website to "do".
Onward and upward!

In a recent job posting, two attributes that the organization was seeking was someone with technical skills to do such tasks as managing podcasts, and also enthusiasm and trainability, which could substitute as experience for the right candidate.
Although I've never created a podcast I have listened to them. As I was sitting last night writing out answers to potential interview questions, I had the idea that one way to combine two of the above attributes into one would be to teach myself to create and publish podcasts in a short amount of time. Being able to do this would highlight that I do have technical skills as well as the ability to learn new information and apply it in a short amount of time. That's why I'm publishing a podcast right now, so let's see how well I did…
(This text, by the way, this is being dictated with Dragon NaturallySpeaking, another technical skill/product that I'd like to be able to share with customers who also would benefit from this product.)
